Dialogue from the Dialogue Tile
Completing Dialogue in the Dialogue tile can be done using three methods:

Completing Dialogue - allows you to electronically record your dialogue with patient counseling notes.
Patient counseling rejection should be recorded with this method.

Quickly completing Dialogue - allows you to electronically record your dialogue without patient counseling notes.
-
Not required - removes the prescription from the Dialogue tile without electronically recording your dialogue.
This option is not available in British Columbia pharmacies.

When patient counseling is completed, if the prescription is displayed in the Dialogue tile, you can electronically record the patient counseling notes here.
To complete dialogue:

From the Workbench, select the Dialogue tile.

Use one of the following options:
-
Highlight the prescription(s) that you need to record dialogue notes electronically and then select Complete.

Scan the barcode for a prescription you need to record dialogue notes electronically in the Quick Lookup field.

If there are other prescriptions for the same patient or group that reside in the Dialogue tile, a prompt appears asking if Dialogue should be completed for these prescriptions as well. Choose the applicable option and then select Process.

Quick Lookup has been tested to be compatible with the Honeywell and Symbol LS 2208 scanners.

The Dialogue window appears. For detailed information about the Dialogue window, see Dialogue Window Overview below.

Enter or select information in the following sections:

Consultation
-
Notes
When entering information in the Notes field, select the expander icon to open the Pharmacist Comments window. Selecting one of these comments auto-inserts common information discussed during patient counseling.

Patient Follow-up
-

Optional: Select the Guidelines button for information on what must be discussed during counselling for new and refill prescriptions. This window can be kept open while you enter information in the Dialogue window.

Optional: Select the Interactions button to review and/or print the interactions that appeared in Rx Detail when processing the prescription. To quickly invoke the button, select Alt + I on your keyboard.

Optional: Select the Carry Forward Notes checkbox if multiple dialogues are being completed and you want to copy the notes from the first dialogue to the subsequent dialogues loaded in the window. Once this checkbox is selected, the Notes field becomes disabled for all dialogue records except the first.
Select Add Note if you want to add dialogue notes that are specific to one prescription.

If multiple prescriptions were selected for Dialogue, select the left and right arrow buttons to navigate to them. Repeat step 4 to record information for each Dialogue.

Select Complete. The Signature window opens upon selecting Complete. Sign the prescription using one of the following methods:
- Credential entry - initials of the signing Pharmacist are used.

Biometric fingerprint scan - initials of the signing Pharmacist are used.
-
Manual signature using a signature pad or mouse - the initials of the logged in Pharmacist user are assumed. However, the signature of the signing pharmacist is captured and appears on all prescription documentation.
The methods available depend on the hardware installed at the workstation and whether an E-Signature has been set up for the logged in user.

Auto-detection has been tested with the McKesson supported signature pads: Topaz TS460 and 461.
If you are using a signature pad that is not compatible with the auto-detection functionality, the auto-detection backend preference can be turned off and the bottom portion of the Signature window will have two radio buttons for the user to choose whether a signature pad or mouse is being used. Once a manual signature is entered, the radio button selection will be saved for the next prescription, regardless of which instance or workstation it's signed off on. If user credentials or a fingerprint is used to sign for the prescription, the Use Mouse option will be defaulted for the next prescription.

The Dialogue window closes and the prescription is removed from the Dialogue tile. The following updates are made:

The Dialogue row on the e-File copy and Workflow Details are updated.

The dialogue record is added to the patient's Clinical tab. For more information, see Clinical Tab Dialogue.

If a follow-up was scheduled, the follow-up is scheduled in the Activities tile for the day specified.

One or more Dialogues can be quickly completed using the Quick Complete option. This option is useful if no patient counselling notes need to be recorded.
Notes can be added to the dialogue later by detailing the dialogue in the Patient Clinical Notes.
To quickly complete Dialogue:

If dialogue or patient counseling is not required for a prescription on the Dialogue tile, highlight the prescription and select Not Required. The prescription is removed from the Dialogue tile. The following update is made:

On the e-File copy, Not Required is entered for the Dialogue step along with the user who performed the action and date it occurred.
